It worked!

Books! What, you don't do this?I posted several weeks ago about cleaning boxes of books out of my parents’ house.  After tossing the ones with mold and giving the rest the airing you see here, I put them in a big plastic tote with a large bag of charcoal to hopefully absorb the musty odor.  It worked!  All the newer books (the ones I bought in the mid-90s to 2000) smell like book now, rather than musty porch.  The older ones–the ones from the 60s and 70s that I bought at tag sales and library fundraisers–need a little more time.  How fantastic, though, that an $8 bag of charcoal has returned my Jane Austen novels to me, among dozens of others.
