It’s been a whirlwind week these past several days, and I haven’t done much cooking in the past couple of days. We did end up making biryani the other night, but it was an odd experiment as we lacked any proper rice, like jasmine or basmati, and were even out of brown rice, and had to use arborio. It was tasty, but wouldn’t have photographed well–all the turmeric, combined with the creamy nature of arborio rice, in it made it kind of a yellow blob. So that’s why you’ve been neglected. Last night I had dinner out as part of a candidate interview for a department at school (how funny to be on the inside of that experience already). But later today, Mr. Pea and I will be making twinkies. You can bet I’ll be filling you in on that.
